Presented by Six Square: Austin’s Black Cultural District, the District Cultural Arts Fest is a celebration that honors the rich legacy and cultural contributions of Central Texas’ Black community.
A yearly festival in East Austin, our goals are to explore and highlight the multi-faceted talents of Black creatives and reclaim space for community in Austin’s historically Black neighborhoods.
During the day, we’ll have a craft and food vendor market featuring local Black-owned businesses as well as four activations that showcase a variety of Black cultural expressions:
- Oral Storytelling presented by the Austin History Center
- TV/Film Production
- Public Art Installation
In the evening we’ll kick off our music festival featuring Grammy-nominated Maimouna Youssef (aka Mumu Fresh), Mobley, CJ Edwards & the Funk Fellowship, and Underground Temple.
On August 31, 2019, join us as we continue creating a nexus of thriving Black arts and culture in East Austin.
This is a family-friendly event. All are welcomed!
